you all may know this already, but here's a nifty web site where you can find the other flies Hans van Klinken's invented.

That holds van Klinken secrets
It piques my interest.

Couldn't resist.

Louis,

Please double-check the top forum rule (at the bottom of the forum homepage).

Also couldn't resist. ;)

There was an old fart from Palmyra
Who said of rhyme I don't care-a
It's just too hard
My lines sound like lard
That stubborn old fart from Palmrya.

See,

If I wax poetic,
haiku will sound much better
inevitably.

Therefore I protest this unfair rule, and am going to show up with signs.

Consisting of haiku.

Written in Japanese.

There once was a forum about
The science of fishing for trout.
Most of the guys
Just talked bugs 'n' flies
While poetry fluttered about.

But Jason, the "Troutnut", decreed
that for haiku 'round here there's no need.
Our nifty grafittis
And cool little ditties
Are now "no-nos"--a pity indeed!

Ignore unjust rules.
Hoot and blow big raspberries.

Hmmm. Another scofflaw. It seems we may have enough to form a club. Hey Casey, any olives down your way yet? I'm looking for fishing reports from you and others who are experiencing ice out.

Snow's meltin' and fish are lookin' up. Put away those skis and get out the dry flies and emergers. I don't want to be the only one out freezing my rear off. :)

I emerged again on them trout yesterday. Problem I had in the low, clear water was the moss that is starting its annual migration. The quandary was "what will get to my fly first, a fish, or a hunk of moss?"

Casey...that's actually Hans Weilenmann's site. You should check out some of the other tiers there as well.

Ann Conba(sp?) for one...and Hans has videos there as well.

Spence, van Klinken's site is now defunct, so I edited Casey's post so people would at least find van Klinken's flies on Hans' site.

Ah! Thanks for the explanation, Louis. Some say I've always had trouble telling my left Hans from my right Hans, but this one really had me confused...:)

this is getting definitely more and more Alice-in-Wonderland by the day...

'tis said that nothing dies on the web. not so! it is horrifying how ephemeral web sites actually turn out to be. lately if i find good stuff, i print out what's interesting--like the other patterns on that van Klinken website. now if i could find them in the mountain of stuff i've printed out just in case the website goes away...

thank you, Louis, for 1) a good laugh at something from long ago (i'd forgotten all about it!) and 2) tidying it up so that everyone might think we actually trade real information around here. sometimes.
