For small streams, I like a 3 weight.
On the East Branch of the Delaware I like my Fenwick 4 weight.
Not bragging, but I have fast action top of the line Sages' in
5, 6, 7 and 8 weights which just collect dust now.
I do not believe that one needs a muscle rod to really enjoy the sport.
Its what feels good for your casting style (and every one is different)
that is important. That is what builds confidence; and we all know what that means for success.

Hi Milton DE,
I know what you mean about high end rods. I own two a Guideline 4 piece 7’6 3 wt I bought before I found the Mystic gear and an 8 weight Vision rod. I have a good friend that went out and bought two rod like your rods and wishes otherwise. One rod he refuses to fish with as he says I can never get that rod to cast right. That is what is nice about my gear; you get a Premium rod without the premium price tag. I retired after 20 years in the service and appreciate a company that works directly with his clients and does not load added expenses to its clients. Last outing I used a Mystic 2 wt rod and managed to catch the prettiest 2" Cherry trout you ever laid your eyes on. The stream was maybe 15 feet at its widest point. I will pick one up later on down the road.

Mystic Fly Rods are selling on Amazon now if anyone is interested. I own two; a 3wt and a 5 wt. You can't ask for a better pole for the price they are asking for these great Rods plus all the extras you get such as the rod tub, rod sock and a warranty that is well above the rest. These rods are designed for medium to fast astion and shoot line. The first time I used the rod I was a little rusty but by the end of the day I was back to my old self again and able to acuratly tuck the flies into some really tight spots without failure.
