Moderator Pleasant Gap, PAPosts: 1197 | Hello, everyone. I've attached a few photos of my latest tying project, the Golden Arrow. This past hunting season, my father harvested his 100th whitetail deer with a bow. I created the Golden Arrow for him to commemorate the achievement. The point, shaft, and nock were shaped from a single section of 18-karat gold, 16-gauge wire. The fletching was made from kori bustard and Amherst pheasant. The tying was done completely in hand, back to front, in three distinct sections, lacquering being completed after each step. This allowed the thread wraps to be completely lacquered without lacquer touching the scarlet floss. You may find a more complete description of my thought process here. Hope you enjoy it. -Shawn | |
