York & Starlight PA Posts: 2733 | I was wondering how many Troutnut posters, and members, live in PA? Seems to be a pretty good number. It would be neat to get together on a good river in May to meet each other, fish, and maybe get together for a meal.

York & Starlight PA Posts: 2733 | "and a few beers afterward with a good meal, sounds even better." Does anyone remember the name of the restaurant on the corner in Alexandria when you are turning right to go to the LJ? I ate lunch and dinner there last May and they have good food, a nice bar, and I think they serve outside weather permitting. I'll be at the Somerset show! I'm going on Friday as it is the least crowded of the three day event - but only if you can arrive early. I like to be in the lobby by 9:30 so when the doors open at 10:00 I'm in right away and can see the show, and get to the displays, without having to fight the crowds. Usually I'm leaving for home by 2:00 p.m. If anyone is going Friday PM me and I'll give you my cell phone # and if I hear it we can hook-up? A couple people called me last year and even on vibrate I didn't hear or feel the phone. I guess the ecstasy of the show had obilterated the ability for me to sense audio or tactile messages. If anyone wants to go with me and share gas money PM me. I live in York. My main reason in going is to meet my best fly buddy from NJ but also to buy some bulk CDC in a couple of colors and get a good grouse skin.

I just happened to pick the LJ as a "forinstance stream". I'd be glad to hear what other streams members might be more interested in meeting at. However the LJ is the farthest west I'd be willing to travel to meet any fly flinger.

Moderator Pleasant Gap, PAPosts: 1197 | I would love to join in as long as it's either a weekend or after school's out for summer (post-June 20th or so). I will be at the show this weekend. I know I'll see Casey (and BFB, I hope), but I've never met Matt or many of the others on here who may attend. I would be very pleased to meet you. I will have a table where I'll be demonstrating some tying - please stop by and say hello. -Shawn

York & Starlight PA Posts: 2733 | Since I've only fished the LJ a few times I'd like to defer to the regulars who fish there to select a time to get together. I'm assuming it is going to have to be a weekend since most of you all probably are still working. Me on the other hand can go fishing any day of the week. I'll probably plan on arriving on a Thursday or Friday and go home on Sunday. What is the approximate emergence date for the Grannon's?

Johnstown, Pa Posts: 11 | Matt, Sounds like a good time. Count me in. Hopefully I wont have a guide trip booked that day. Looking forward to meeting some of the posters on the site. I think the J would be a good location. About the Grannon's, well last year they started hatching right around the opening day of trout season. And of course I was'nt there. Was fishing that weekend on Kettel Cr. But my buddy was there and he had a blast.

Posts: 127 | I WISH I was still part of the "PA contingent". Alas, I'm in purgatory... My favorite time to fish the J is actually in the dead of summer. It's often a great alternative when everything else is low and clear...

Arlington, VA/ Mercersburg, PA Posts: 653 | the grannoms are known for happening around Tax Day, which is also close to the second of the two PA Fishing Opening Days. it can be very busy! on the other hand, the sulphurs happen later in better weather and for longer. like Matt, we can fish any day, so it's best if the rest pick a weekend and we'll be there.

Chambersburg, PA Posts: 452 | I'm in on this one. Let me know a little bit in advance so I can arrange time off if needed. I'm open for any river/destination. The only dates that are troublesome for me are May 20,21 due to a Project Healing Waters outing here in C-Burg. Matt, The hall mark I always look for in terms of Grannoms is the Red Buds starting to bud up and bloom. The Little J is roughly two weeks behind the CV streams you are familiar with. JW

Eugene, OR - formerly Eastern PA Posts: 145 | Hey guys, eastern PA checking in. I too would be down to meet up sometime. I'm actually new to fly fishing as I recently defected from the bait fishing crowd. So, it would be nice to have some fishing buddies that DON'T swing corn. I mostly fish the Lil' Lehigh and Maiden Creek. But I'll go most anywhere. Look forward to it!
