Bozeman Posts: 1 | Hey, I come out to Mahwah NJ every year from Bozeman MT to visit my in-laws and this year i get a hall pass for the day (fathers day). I am willing to drive to the Neversink Gorge but i have no idea where to really go. So anyone out there know that area? Help a brother from MT and the favor will be returned should any of you make it out to this area.

Moderator Palmyra PAPosts: 3233 | Bozone, if I knew one end of the Neversink from another I'd be glad to tell you what I know. But I don't, having never fished it. So, I'd recommend that you call some local fly shops in the area and ask them. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Administrator Bellevue, WAPosts: 2737 | It's pretty easy to figure out. There are only two ways into the gorge. I've always gone in the north path. Several good pools are pretty close to where the trail goes near the river. Be really careful about crossing, and don't even try unless the water is pretty low. It's very slippery and fast, and deceptively deep when it's clear. If you don't cross, there are some steep bluffs you can't really get past on the near side, so you'll be limited, but you can have a fun day working the pools you can get to.

Oakland, NJ Posts: 1 | Hello! I know this is an old post and not sure if you still are connected to it and if you still come out to NJ. I live in Oakland, next to Mahwah. I know the Neversink a bit although I've never fished the gorge. I also know the Delaware and Beaverkill. If you have any plans on coming out I'd be happy to show you around these streams. Steve
