Posts: 3 | I did some stonefly collecting yesterday in the Adirondacks and found this one. It's quite small, a size 14-16 hook, and I was wondering what was the species of this stonefly. The antennas and tails are pretty long though. Thank you to anyone who may know the answer!

Site Editor Royse City, TXPosts: 1350 | Hi Simon- I believe this stonefly nymph to be of family Nemouridae (The Forestflies). If I were to take a guess as to genus and species, it would be Prostoia similis, which has a common name of Longhorn Forestfly, and is one of the (10) Nemourids known to reside in New York. Please see link to Troutnut website Prostoia nymphal photos.
