Hello,

I live in North Georgia and recently designed a lamprey pattern to match the small run of lamprey that migrate up the Coosa River tributaries in the spring. I'm curious if any Great Lake tributary anglers see these migrations and if it might help or be useful up there. The fly below is a weighted 7" dragontail on a 1/0 octopus hook with a large inverted cone weight.

If you would like to see how the trout react to the fly, along with some chases and eats. The link below is a quick video we recently filmed.

Hey man, match the hatch! Tying for local waters is always the way to go. Long slinky patterns like this are good 4 bass, used a 4" chartreuse Feather Eel to pop a nice 3-pounder this spring! I haven't run into a "lamprey hatch" but good on you for figuring it out! MATCH THE HATCH!!

Tight lines!

No matter how big the one you just caught is, there's always a bigger one out there somewhere...

I’ve tied a leech/lamprey pattern called the little rascal from Hawkins Outfitters in northern Michigan. It’s a good streamer pattern for steelhead and trout.
