The appeal of trout fishing is tied to the landscapes in which they live. They need the kind of clean, cold water found mostly in pristine rivers in pristine places that lend themselves to landscape photography. I've begun to take that hobby seriously too, although the best times of day for pictures conflict with the best times for fishing!

My dad stalks some wary small-stream trout, a mix of browns and brookies.
I caught the first dolly of the day after several tries while hiding behind this willow. It made splashy refusals at the first couple flies I tried. I peeked through gaps between the leaves to watch my fly drift down and see the fish's take.
I'm kneeling low in this picture to avoid spooking wary small-stream trout. It's important to blend into the background.
An anonymous dipnetter works the bank near the access point at O'Brien Creek.
