Landscape Pictures of Rivers, Page 6

The appeal of trout fishing is tied to the landscapes in which they live. They need the kind of clean, cold water found mostly in pristine rivers in pristine places that lend themselves to landscape photography. I've begun to take that hobby seriously too, although the best times of day for pictures conflict with the best times for fishing!

I'm in this picture casing into the riffle above one of my favorite pools. The fishing was fine, but the catching wasn't so hot. I got one strike on my carefully tied nymphs and two on my cheap foam strike indicator. From the Namekagon River in Wisconsin.

I cross a small river after an unsuccessful attempt to find some fall-run landlocked salmon. This picture was taken shortly after another very nice wider picture of the same spot.

I spent more than an hour casting to several rising trout in this pool and caught only two. Its clear water and tricky currents harbor dozens of free-rising, usually very hard-to-catch fish. From Enfield Creek in New York.

This is not a sunset picture, but a midday picture in Alaska in the winter. The sun is low in the sky all day at that time of year. From the Chena River in Alaska.
