The appeal of trout fishing is tied to the landscapes in which they live. They need the kind of clean, cold water found mostly in pristine rivers in pristine places that lend themselves to landscape photography. I've begun to take that hobby seriously too, although the best times of day for pictures conflict with the best times for fishing!
A small tributary tumbles toward a large Catskill river.
Crossing part of Windy Creek. Most of Windy Creek flows under Valdez Road through culverts, but in a couple places it just washes over the road when it's high. It was a bit tricky riding the bikes through the flowing water over some rough cobble and trying not to get wet.
Distant anglers dunk worms outside a small Catskill town at the meeting of two great trout streams.
This Lake Ontario tributary was seemingly devoid of big fish in mid-September.

This old artificial dam (possibly the former site of a bridge) creates a nice little trout pond upstream.
