The appeal of trout fishing is tied to the landscapes in which they live. They need the kind of clean, cold water found mostly in pristine rivers in pristine places that lend themselves to landscape photography. I've begun to take that hobby seriously too, although the best times of day for pictures conflict with the best times for fishing!
Everything just kind of blends together in this turbulent picture, taken during an early-season skunking on an unfamiliar stretch of river.

Deep snow melts away from a storied Catskill river as spring nears.
A couple Canada geese take off from the scenic but nasty, swampy, and apparently troutless headwaters of a small, beaver-ravaged stream.

This might be the most impossible fly-casting situation I've ever seen, a thicket along a creek which normally has relatively easy casting.
