Odd Pictures from Trout Streams, Page 9
These odds and ends didn't fit into any of my other categories. Sometimes a really weird (or slightly twisted) picture opportunity presents itself and it's hard to can't pass it up. I think the oddest picture so far was the crayfish that grabbed my nymph and held on long enough for the camera.
Beautiful mountain valley where I got my caribou last year.
The first afternoon of our hunt, we had a good time watching small avalanches crash down the mountain we were scanning for bears. From half a mile away, they sounded like normal thunder in the distance.
Taiga looks pretty happy here for a dog with several porcupine quills hanging from her chin.

I was surprised to find green leaves & flowers on these plants, which were hanging off a rock wall, high up in the mountains where nothing else is really budding yet. This is purple mountain saxifrage, one of the most cold-tolerant plants there is.

A little bit of glacier hangs along a shady wall in this high canyon in the Alaska Range.
