Odd Pictures from Trout Streams, Page 18
These odds and ends didn't fit into any of my other categories. Sometimes a really weird (or slightly twisted) picture opportunity presents itself and it's hard to can't pass it up. I think the oddest picture so far was the crayfish that grabbed my nymph and held on long enough for the camera.
This is some species of lupine, but I'm not sure which.
The NY DEC has installed these trout habitat improvements on a small upstate stream. I found that most fish in the stream orient to them.
Final load packed up. I strapped the hind quarters off either side of my bike's rear tire rack, loaded the burger/rib bag and antlers in my pack, and had an easy ride out to the car without Lena having to carry anything or get messy caribou on her gear.
The old small-scale coal mine, along with erosion from Ober Creek, left these coal seams exposed on a hillside, mixed in with other sedimentary rocks.
