This is the most common Caenis species in our trout streams. It is often found in angling books under a former name, Caenis simulans. Trout occasionally feed on it selectively. Where & WhenRegions: East, Midwest, West
Time Of Year (?): June through August
This hatch occurs across the country. Fred Arbona reports in Mayflies, the Angler, and the Trout that it precedes the Tricorythodes hatch in the East and Midwest.
